Embark on an unforgettable journey starting and concluding in Paro! The “Highlights of the Trans Bhutan Trail” hiking and trekking tour spans 12 days, guiding you through Paro, Bhutan, and seven other captivating destinations within the country. This immersive experience offers accommodation in comfortable hotels, expert guidance, delicious meals, seamless transportation, and much more, ensuring an enriching exploration of Bhutan’s stunning landscapes and cultural treasures.

Day 1: Paro/Thimphu (1L, 1D)
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, enjoy a private transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The remainder of the day is yours to explore before a brief welcome meeting at the hotel in the evening with the rest of the group. Afterwards, venture out for dinner together at a local restaurant, where you’ll savor your first taste of Bhutanese cuisine. If you’re up for it, consider exploring some of Thimphu’s lively nightlife spots.

Note: Thimphu’s elevations range from 2,248 meters (7,375 feet) to 2,648 meters (8,688 feet) above sea level, offering a captivating blend of modernity and Bhutanese tradition.

Day 2: Thimphu (1B, 1L, 1D)
Spend the day exploring the highlights of Thimphu. Begin with a visit to the scenic Kabesa valley to see the Choki Traditional Art School, followed by a stop at Pangri Zampa Monastery for a private reading with a monk astrologer. Other highlights include visits to Thimphu Dzong, Buddha Point, and the Memorial Chorten. Conclude the day with dinner as a group at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Thimphu/Chendebi (1B, 1L, 1D)
Start the day with an early drive to Pelela, where you’ll rejoin the Trans Bhutan Trail. Enjoy a hot lunch at a traditional farmhouse in Rukubji village, known for its unique local language, Ngyen-Kye. Resume your journey with a gentle climb through the forest to Chendebi village, where you’ll camp for the night. Explore the village’s Chorten before indulging in an organic, locally sourced dinner at the campsite.

Day 4: Chendebi/Trongsa (1B, 1L, 1D)
After breakfast at camp, transfer to Trongsa, rejoining the Trans Bhutan Trail. Descend into the valley, crossing the Mangde River via an old cantilever bridge. Explore Trongsa Dzong before enjoying leisure time in the town. Regroup for dinner at a local restaurant in the early evening.

Day 5: Trongsa (1B, 1L, 1D)
Start the day with a tour of Trongsa Dzong, visiting its lhakhangs and the Royal Heritage Museum housed in the Ta Dzong. Enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace, exploring Trongsa.

Day 6: Trongsa to Bumthang (1B, 1L, 1D)
After breakfast, transfer to Bumthang. Visit Jakar Dzong upon arrival, followed by leisure time in the town. Experience a local homestay in the evening, sharing a meal and stories with your hosts.

Day 7: Bumthang (1B, 1L, 1D)
Enjoy breakfast before embarking on a trek along the Trans Bhutan Trail. Visit Pema Choeling Nunnery and continue towards Mebartsho (The Burning Lake). Return to Bumthang, visiting Bumthang Brewery and enjoying another homestay experience in the evening.

Day 8: Bumthang to Punākha (1B, 1L, 1D)
Transfer to Punakha after breakfast. Embark on an afternoon trek on the ‘Divine Madman Trail’ to Chimi Lakhang. Return to Punakha for the evening.

Day 9: Punākha (1B, 1L, 1D)
Explore Punakha, visiting Punakha Dzong and Bazam Bridge. Enjoy a local cookery demonstration and optional rafting expedition on Mo Chhu River.

Day 10: Punākha/Paro (1B, 1L, 1D)
Travel to Paro via Dochu La pass, stopping at 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Explore Paro’s Ta Dzong and Rinpung Dzong. Enjoy leisure time in Paro.

Day 11: Paro (1B, 1L, 1D)
Visit Taktshang Goemba (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) and Machig-phu Lhakhang. Enjoy leisure time in Paro before a farewell dinner with the group.

Day 12: Paro (1B)
Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight after breakfast.
